Did you miss our last fundraising event? Don’t worry – watch the highlights here.

Collect Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers

Friday, February 23rd, 2007

Sainsbury's Active KidsHamilton PSA is collecting Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers. If you shop at Sainsbury’s and receive these vouchers, please hand them in to us. There’s a special collecting box just inside the entrance by the school office. Save time and sort them into ones and fives as the box has separate slots for each kind of voucher.

This is the third year of Active Kids. So far, over 26,000 schools have benefited from a share of £34 million worth of Active Kids equipment and experiences.

For every £10 customers spend in Sainsbury’s stores, including its online grocery site, or at Sainsbury’s petrol stations, customers will receive one Active Kids voucher that they can then donate to a school, guiding or Scout group. An additional Active Kids voucher will be earned for every £10 spent on fresh fruit and vegetables and /or products featuring the healthy apple symbol. Customers can also earn vouchers with Nectar, by converting 500 Nectar points into 50 Active Kids vouchers on the Nectar website www.nectar.com/rewards.

Schools can redeem vouchers against a comprehensive and exciting range of active equipment, like dance hoops, basketball nets or even a climbing wall. They can also be redeemed for active experiences like free in-school coaching from professionals in dance, martial arts or fitness.

You can collect Active Kids vouchers from 7 February to 29 May 2007.

Charitable status applied for

Friday, February 23rd, 2007

The PSA has applied for charitable status and is hoping it will be granted in a few months’ time. This change will considerably expand the types of fundraising that it will be able to undertake and the range of benefits it can receive. For example, it will be able to claim the tax back on many of the donations it receives via Gift Aid – that is worth an extra 28p for every £1 donated, at no extra cost to the donor. We will also be able to apply for a wider range of grants and add new ways of giving such as earning income from donated mobile phones and printer cartridges sent for recycling.

We’ll let you know when we get confirmation.
