Over 200,000 Tesco vouchers collected

Monday, July 16th, 2007

[Tesco recycling envelope]The Headmaster, Mr Reynolds, has thanked everyone who supported the school by sending in their Tesco Computers for Schools vouchers. So far the school has received a remarkable 221,483 vouchers. These have been ‘banked’ until June 2008, when the school will be able to combine two years’ worth of vouchers and purchase more equipment.

However, if you have any still sitting around at home, please bring them in: we can accept them up until September.

There is yet another way we can increase the number of Tesco vouchers we received. You should have received via your child an envelope for used inkjet cartridges. Please use it to post off for recycling any used cartridges you have, and Hamilton will earn Computers for Schools vouchers for these too. Alternatively, save them up to bring them into school from September for our collecting bin positioned opposite the infant hall.

Don’t forget to fill in the tear-off slip on the recycling envelope and fill it in with details of Hamilton’s school name.

Picture this

Coloured pencils - photo: Jenny WThere are plenty of ways we can use this site, so let’s use it to let your children show off their artistic skills. If your child would like one of her or his drawings or pictures displayed for all to see, then send it to us and we’ll publish it. We’ll add their first name and class too.

If you can scan the picture and email it to us then that would be easier, but if you don’t have access to a scanner then feel free to drop the picture round to 17 Errington Road and we’ll scan it and publish it. Sorry, we can’t cope with images larger than A4. Make sure you include your name and address on the reverse so that we can return it.

Is there a fundraising element to this? Not directly, except that every page we add to the site will feature links and opportunities to get involved in fundraising. So, the more pictures the better.

Win £10,000 to improve the quality of life for your community

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

To promote its new Quality of life Unit, Essex County Council is offering residents the chance to win £10,000 to improve the quality of life for their community. To be entered into the draw all you have to do is fill in the one-page survey on page eight of the July issue of the Council’s Essex Matters magazine, which has probably dropped through your door this week.

You can also fill in the survey online at the Essex County Council’s website. Entries must be received by 5pm on 16 July 2007.

The winning suggestion chosen by the Council’s panel will be “implemented by the County Council to improve the quality of life for local residents”.

While individuals and schools can’t make applications, there’s nothing to stop you coming up with an idea that would benefit Hamilton pupils indirectly.
