[Junior playground equipment]
The PSA is funding new junior playground equipment, and work starts on it next week. It will be installed in the area where the amphitheatre used to be. If the weather is good, then the children should be able to start using the equipment after two weeks.

The School Council worked with the play equipment firm to decide upon the design of the area.

The small sizes are £7.50, and £8.50 for 34 inch and above. They are available in round neck and V neck styles. Cheques should be made payable to Hamilton School Fund.

You can also order them using the sweatshirt order form. Completed forms must be returned to the school office by 30 November 2007.

Farewell to Ted

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

Ted Noy, Hamilton Primary’s caretaker, will be retiring soon and his last day at Hamilton will be 7 December. Mr Reynolds, the headmaster, today described him as “a popular figure around the school [who] has helped us in many more ways than is indicated on his job description!”

The PSA committee are very grateful to Ted for his help over the years. Many events would not have been the successes they were without his behind-the-scenes but essential, and friendly, help.

Ian Welham has taken over as Site Manager. He started at the beginning of this week.

Some PTAs becoming ‘cool’ says The Times

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Writing in The Times,

“Time was when the average school parent teacher association was a gentle fundraising body that consisted mostly of stay-at-home mums, rather like the WI. It organised the occasional barbecue or jumble sale and the Christmas fair, and made a small amount of money. Not any more. PTAs have modernised to become more businesslike and professional. Some are even “cool”.”

If you want to find out if Hamilton’s PSA is cool or not, or if you’ve got some professional skills to share, or even if you’ve just got some spare time or ideas, come along to the Annual General Meeting on 20 November at 7.30pm in the school: it is open to all parents and staff.

PSA’s Annual General Meeting

Friday, November 9th, 2007
20 November 2007
7:30 pmto9:00 pm

The Annual General Meeting of the PSA will be held in the Lower School Hall. All parents are members of the PSA, so do come along.

We need your support at the AGM to appoint new committee members, to vote on how to spend the money we raised and to decide what we will fund raise for next year. Have you got ideas on how the money should be spent? Come and let us know.

Come along and find out about the PSA. We are always keen to welcome more people who can help out. Don’t worry: you won’t be press-ganged into taking part in anything you don’t want to be involved in.

There are 379 children from 309 families at the school but only 16 parents turned up last year. Go on: you see us in the playground, and you come to some of our events. Why not find out what we do and if there’s any way you can help with your skills or a little bit of time?

Buy from Yellow Moon catalogue

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

Yellow Moon catalogue coverHamilton children will have come home recently with a Yellow Moon catalogue, full of educational toys, craft items, and stocking fillers. For every purchase you make Yellow Moon gives up to 25% cash back to the school, so do browse the catalogue to see if anything takes your fancy.

You can place your order direct with Yellow Moon using the order form at the back or by phone, fax or online. If you use one of the last three options, please remember to quote the source code SHA1544 which is on the printed order form. Without this, Hamilton PSA will not earn any commission. Yellow Moon will deliver straight to your door, not via the school.

Yellow Moon says “allow seven working days for delivery”.
