The Basement - software at reduced prices

Both parents and full-time students at the school are entitled to Microsoft and Adobe products at up to 90% discount. For example , Microsoft Office Professional Plus costs just £48.50 instead of the standard price of £365.85!

The reduced price software is available from RM, an educational supplier of computer equipment and are associated with the Computers for Schools promotion that Tesco run each year. They say it is available “to encourage the use of ICT to boost learning and achievement”. The products are for home use.

The software is fully licensed and fully functional but it comes without the packaging ie. no box.

You will need to register on the site and identify which school your child goes to in order to qualify.

Hamilton will receive a benefit for each purchase by one of its parents or pupils. This is equivalent to 5% of the cost of the software licence purchased, subject to a minimum of £500 of gross sales being attributed to the school by its students during the academic year.

Hamilton PSA offers community noticeboard – offline and online

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

The PSA will soon be launching a new advertising service available to parents at the school and local businesses in the area. You will soon be able to advertise something for sale or a business product or service on the two boards (infants and juniors) outside the school gates.

Private advertising
Individuals wanting to sell something can do so on a card inside the board for the very reasonable fee of £2 per fortnight. The ad will appear on both boards outside the school gates. There is no limit on how many things an individual can sell: multiple items can be listed on one card. Photo’s will also accepted on the cards.

Business advertising
Local businesses can also advertise their services on the boards. For £10 per month, their advert will appear on both boards. Adverts must be A5 and supplied as finished copy by the advertiser.

We shall also soon be accepting paid-for adverts on this website.

Needless to say, adverts are accepted in good faith and their apperance on the board should not be interpreted as endorsement by the school or the PSA. The PSA reserve the right to refuse to accept an advert.

If you are interested in advertising, please fill in the advertising enquiry form, drop it into the PSA box opposite the school office, and we will call you back. Reservations for business ads will be accepted. Private ads will be accepted on a first come first served basis

Sorry, no discounts to parents at the school.

All money raised will be added to the PSA’s fundraising total. These community boards are designed to bring in a steady flow of income for the PSA to help it fund the planned improvements to part of the junior playground.

Searching for Britain’s Most Inspiring Fundraiser

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

Britain's most inspiring fundraiserCharity search engine Everyclick.com is running a nationwide competition to find Britain’s Most Inspiring Fundraiser, in memory of the late Jane Tomlinson. From today until 28 March, Everyclick.com is asking the British public to nominate the unsung fundraising heroes of their communities, with £20,000 going to the winner’s charity of choice.

Everyclick.com has joined forces with Mike Tomlinson, the widower of Jane Tomlinson, who raised more than £1.75 million for cancer charities through a serious of gruelling physical challenges, whilst battling breast cancer. Jane died in September 2007, but her family are keen to keep her legacy alive.

Friends, family members or colleagues can nominate someone whom they think deserves the accolade. Nominators will be asked to supply simple details about their nominee and an outline of their fundraising efforts for charity including the impact this has had.

Mike Tomlinson said: “We want to keep Jane’s memory alive by encouraging everyone to do whatever they can for charity. Even the simplest things can make an incredible difference, not everyone can run marathons but it can be as effortless as switching your search engine.”

Everyclick.com has already raised more than £400,000 for charities in the UK.

Is there anyone at Hamilton PSA or elsewhere that you know who deserves nominating? Nominate them online.

The closing date for nominations is 28 March 2008.

Start collecting Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Sainsbury’s Active KidsSainsbury’s Active Kids 2008 is now underway so do start collecting vouchers from Sainsbury’s to give to Hamilton PSA.

The vouchers can be exchanged by schools and Scout/Guide groups for sports equipment and training. This year there are 400 new items of sports equipment in the catalogue, and schools and groups can now choose to use their vouchers to take young people to watch top sports stars at Rugby Union, netball or basketball matches.

From 14 February 2008 to 4 June 2008, every £10 you spend with Sainsbury’s will earn one voucher. You can earn vouchers at Sainsbury’s supermarkets, Locals, Centrals and petrol stations and when you shop online at Sainsbury’s. In addition you can earn a bonus voucher for every £10 spent on fresh fruit, salad and vegetables, and any of the hundreds of foods marked with the healthy ‘apple symbol’, such as milk, pasta, rice and fresh fish.

Last year a record 233 million Active Kids vouchers were redeemed. This resulted in schools, Guide and Scout groups sharing in £18 million worth of Active Kids equipment and experiences. That is an average of £630 per school or group.

Vouchers can be posted in the box outside the school office.
