£8 raised simply for a free trial

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

I’ve just raised £8 for the PSA simply by signing up for a free 14-day trial to receive DVDs from Lovefilm.com via online shopping site easyfundraising.org.uk.

Raise £8 with a free trial of Lovefilm

I plan to stick with Lovefilm anyway, but imagine how much we could raise if we all signed up for just the trial and then cancelled it after 13 days? Given that Lovefilm has over 60,000 film, TV series and games titles, some of you might choose to stick with them. It doesn’t matter.

Register now for the trial and you’ll generate £8 straight away for the PSA. To be clear, to generate a donation:

(1) You must accept delivery of at least 1 DVD
(2) Only one trial per household
(3) You must provide valid financial details
(4) You must not have already had a free trial with a LOVEFiLM International owned service (includes screenselect.co.uk, tescodvdrental.com, easydvdrental.com and sofacinema.com

You’ll find Lovefilm under the CDs & DVDs category at:

www.easyfundraising.org.uk/hamiltonppsa

By the way, by signing up I was also entered into the July 2008 free prize draw sponsored by Majestic Wine, to win a case of Heidseick Gold Top Champagne.

How about that for some easy summer fundraising?

‘Best ever’ Summer Fair raises £5,100

Friday, July 18th, 2008

The Summer Fair on Saturday 12 July has raised £5,100 in profit, “the best ever result” according to Mr Reynolds. This money will go towards improving the Junior playground area for the children.

Thank you to everyone involved in preparing the event, to all those who ran stalls, and to everyone who came along and supported the event.

Incidentally, Mr Reynolds reports that the police officers who attended the fair in their car on the junior playground commented on how the school “had a lovely atmosphere, on the sensible children and on the pleasant parents”. They thanked the PSA for inviting them.

Hamilton rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Ofsted logoCongratulations to the staff and children at Hamilton which has been judged as ‘outstanding’ in its latest Ofsted inspection report. As Headteacher Mr Reynolds points out, this puts the school “in the top 5% of schools in England”.

In the latest newsletter Mr Reynolds added: “I would also like to thank parents who were supportive of our school during the Ofsted process”.

The report isn’t yet live on the Ofsted website: the report on the last inspection on 28 February 2005 took just over two months to be published online. So, you can still read the last report.

Help needed for after school today

Friday, July 11th, 2008

After school today the PSA will be gathering items for tomorrow’s Summer Fair from the store cupboard and moving them to particular areas around the school. If you could spare half an hour or so it will mean we can get this done faster. We’ll gather at the storeroom in the infant playground at 3.20 this afternoon.

We’ll also need some help erecting gazebos.

Don’t forget to bring your friends and family to tomorrow’s fair.

Running a stand for the Summer Fair

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

Thank you to everyone who has already volunteered to help at the Hamilton School PSA Fair on Saturday 12 July.

There are still a few stalls that need staffing, so do please consider being a helper. You can always share responsibility for a stall so that you can go off and enjoy the fair.

Stalls that need people to help include:

  • games and toys – one helper
  • kids’ videos and DVDs – one helper
  • gate duty – one helper
  • ‘floaters’ – two helpers
  • character photo stall – one helper. (We have the assistants but no-one as yet to take the photos. We need someone with a digital camera willing to take the photos. We shall organise the printing. This is a fun stall and it would be a shame if we can’t run this one.

Contact Sarah Brock at if you can help.

Needed for the Summer Fair

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Flowers - photo: Alexander Shelgunov

The PSA’s Summer Fair on Saturday 12 July (2 – 4.30 pm) is nearly here. But the PSA needs a few items: can you help?

We need:

  • plants - can you put aside a few plants when you are potting up or taking cuttings and donate them to our plant stall?
  • garden produce - do you have an allotment? Can you donate some vegetables or fruit?
  • raffle prizes - do you have a service you could offer as a prize? Are you a hairdresser, beautician, gardener, builder, mechanic? Or perhaps you offer alternative therapy, reiki etc?
  • bric-a-brac

If you can help with any of the above do contact Cora on 540257 or email .
