Santa Suit Detail

The PSA’s Father Christmas suit is missing and we need it for the Christmas Bazaar on Friday afternoon.

It was borrowed last year and handed over in the playground, but no-one knows who borrowed it. If it is stuck in your cupboard or attic please hand it in to the school or one of the PSA committee. Thank you.

Splash some cash with our fountain

Family at the Fountain

The new wildlife garden, which could be ready in time for Christmas this year in the junior playground, will include a water feature, with appropriate safety features.

Which is good timing as there is award money of up to £2,250 for the best new fountain or water feature in the UK. The 2009 Marsh/Fountain Society Award is open to all organisations, including charities and voluntary organisations.

If the water feature meets the award’s criteria, and gets built in time, then the PSA will try and put in an application for this award.

John Lewis offers staff as volunteers

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

The John Lewis Partnership is inviting UK charities to apply for volunteers from John Lewis and Waitrose stores to work for them on a six-month secondment, fully paid for by the company.

The Golden Jubilee Trust, the Partnership’s charitable trust, allows every employee (or ‘Partner’), at any level, in the Partnership to take up to six months off, fully paid to work in a charity in their local community and allowing them to return to their job post secondment.

Does anyone at Hamilton have any friends/colleagues at John Lewis/Waitrose? Do we have a project that would benefit from their professional skills?

These volunteers work for smaller local charities like Hamilton PSA as well as the big names. They can work part-time too: given that there is no full-time staff person at the PSA, this is the more likely option.

The contact at www.johnlewispartnership.co.uk is Chris Jones.

Any suggestions? Share them below in a comment.

Buy from Yellow Moon catalogue

Friday, November 14th, 2008

You should have received a Yellow Moon Catalogue this week from your child. It’s full of inspirational and educational ways to keep your children entertained, so is a good source of ideas for Christmas presents and stocking fillers.

For every purchase made, Yellow Moon will give Hamilton up to 25% cash back.

You can place your order direct with Yellow Moon by phone, fax, post or online. Please make sure you quote the source code, which you will find on your catalogue. This is unique to the school and ensures we receive our cash back.

Thank you.

travelling books

The Travelling Book Fair comes to Hamilton this week. It will be open in the infant hall from 3:10 until 3:40 for all five days this week.

You should by now have received a leaflet giving some information about the books available and how to purchase them online or by a pre-paid internet voucher which your child can spend at the fair. The school will receive 60% commission of the total fair takings. This will be used to purchase books for both of the libraries.

Do come along and buy some books.
