Red carpet at the Children’s Disco

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

The Children’s disco was very popular last Friday, with Hamilton pupils receiving some red carpet treatment on their way into school. Passing the white stretch limo, they all headed into the infant hall, dressed as their favourite movie characters.

There were dance prizes and a raffle, and infants and juniors seemed to have a good time. Thank you to all those who helped at the event and in organising it.

PSA receives £10,000 Lottery award

Monday, December 15th, 2008

Hamilton School PSA has been awarded £10,000 of National Lottery funding.  Together with the £10,000 we have raised ourselves, this means that we can now start to upgrade the facilities in the junior playground.

The plans we submitted include a wooden stage for impromptu performances, a wildlife garden, benches, a pergola and an all-weather artificial grass surface to replace the muddy patch of earth near the railings.

PSA chair Kim Lane said: “We can’t wait to get started, so watch that space!”

‘Best ever’ Summer Fair raises £5,100

Friday, July 18th, 2008

The Summer Fair on Saturday 12 July has raised £5,100 in profit, “the best ever result” according to Mr Reynolds. This money will go towards improving the Junior playground area for the children.

Thank you to everyone involved in preparing the event, to all those who ran stalls, and to everyone who came along and supported the event.

Incidentally, Mr Reynolds reports that the police officers who attended the fair in their car on the junior playground commented on how the school “had a lovely atmosphere, on the sensible children and on the pleasant parents”. They thanked the PSA for inviting them.

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Year 3 teacher Mrs Wright and Mrs Westbrook, a Year 3 parent, both successfully jumped from a crane above the Drury Arms last Friday. Children and parents turned up to cheer them on. Congratulations to both of them and for raising £396.42 for Hamilton School PSA.

Income from buying via Amazon.co.uk

Friday, January 11th, 2008

The PSA has received its first commission payment from Amazon.co.uk for sales generated via the Hamilton PSA website. From the site’s launch until the end of November, your purchases have generated £85.91.

Not a bad start since all it involved was remembering to shop at Amazon via the PSA’s dedicated shop or link.

However, we think we can do a lot better. Hamilton parents, staff, friends and anyone else you’ve told about this site, bought 120 books, CDs, videos etc via Amazon during those six months, spending £1,446.19.

Imagine how much the PSA would earn if we boosted that to 1000 items. It’s far from impossible: think how many books, CDs, toys, DVDs, electrical appliances that Hamilton parents and their contacts buy each year for their children, themselves and others. Of course not everyone will use Amazon or even shop online, but a good proportion of us probably do and might be open to using Amazon if the purchase made money for the PSA.

So, bookmark the Hamilton PSA shop and let other’s know about it.

As well as the fundraising, pupils learned how getting ‘denimised’ would help other boys and girls. Mrs Anderson gave a Powerpoint presentation to Key Stage 2 children explaining how they money would be used, to the accompaniment of jeans-related music, and Miss Wilding told the Key Stage 1 children how wearing their jeans would help.
